Kate Middleton Please STOP!

I know I will risk the wrath of all royalists out there, but currently the mainstream media seen unable to speak the truth when it comes to Kate Middleton.

Yes, Kate is undoubtedly a natural beauty, although perhaps not in Samantha Brick's league, but then who is? She has fantastic dress sense and always looks demure. However, am I the only person who thinks the Duchess of Cambridge is now dangerously thin?

The once healthy looking student, who mesmerised Prince William at a university catwalk show with her perfect UK Size 10 figure, has now morphed into a lollipop i.e. a head on a stick!

With her striking bone structure, Kate still has a beautiful face, but it's now perched precariously on top of an increasingly skeletal body.

Her natural curves have gone, replaced by a tiny waist, brittle-looking arms and painfully thin legs.

I draw parallels with the now slightly scary Angelina Jolie, arguably the most beautiful woman in Hollywood, who now looks more like Ridley Scott's Alien than a movie star.

It's completely natural that Kate chose to slim down in the run up to her wedding. I can only imagine the stresses of getting married so publicly in front of millions of people around the world.

What worries me is that her weight loss has continued. She can only be a UK Size 6 now, dangerously thin for a young woman with her proportions and height.

If I were Kate's trainer, I would encourage her to regain her naturally athletic body. Not only would she look better, she would feel a hundred times better too. With much more energy for those all important public engagements.

Being underweight can lead to a wide range of unpleasant conditions including; osteoporosis, depression, fatigue, insomnia, unwanted hair growth and poor skin.

Sensible exercise and a balanced diet are the key to lasting health and happiness, NOT excessive dieting!

So if you want to look gorgeously slim and toned, but don't want to look emaciated, follow the simple rules below:

  1. Avoid extreme diets - Try to eat a balanced diet in sensible portions, allowing yourself one cheat day a week
  2. Consume - Lean protein and healthy complex carbs like wholegrain rice, with plenty of green vegetables and fresh fruit
  3. Don't skip breakfast - It will just slow your metabolism down and make you feel sluggish
  4. Try to do some weight bearing strength exercises - They will raise your metabolism, strengthen your bones and improve your muscle tone
  5. Do some cardio - Walk, swim, ride, jog or Zumba! It doesn't matter what you do, it will all help improve your cardiovascular health and burn a few calories along the way

If you think you are already too slim, please increase your food intake and seek the advice of a doctor before exercising.

I too have noticed it. Unfortunately it is all too common among celebrities and others in the public eye. The more high profile they get the more the pressure to be excessively thin. Just look at Princess Diana her Mother In Law. When she was first introduced to the world she was still fresh faced and robust. Over the years her well documented body image issues escalated. Hopefully William will see the similarities and nip it in the bud and encourage her to stay at a healthier weight. She is most definitely much thinner than her college days, she has not always been so skinny, so it is not her natural inclination obviously.

I agree Kate is very thin.Although I think she does sports,she doesnt seem to have the build to show she is doing the correct exercises or training as she doesnt appear to have any muscle.Women like this dont appear healthy and how they dont fall over through weakness is beyond my way of thinking.As for the person who said she cant get her weight up any higher than 7 stone must be really worried about her health and I would definately get it checked out!Ive heard that some people have a problem with Tape Worms which would be the answer to not being able to gain weight.

i think she is thin, and I think it is stress. I question whether she will prove to be tough enough to be a royal. She is 30 years old, but does not seem either physically or emotionally robust. I forsee another Queen Alexandra.

Now they're saying she's too thin, if she puts on any weight at all they'll say she's too fat. She can't win.

Not another article attacking women in the public eye, in this instance Kate Middleton, for being 'too thin.' As someone who has rarely been able to tip the scales beyond the 7 stone mark, no matter how much I eat (admittedly I'm a lot shorter than Kate,) I've had to endure a lifetime of comments from self-appointed health experts asserting that I'm 'too skinny,' that 'no-one is a size 6 naturally,' and, worst of all, that thin women are not sexy! How do you think this makes us feel? It's perfectly natural for some women to be thin, and as I have said, I think Kate looks wonderful and should not have to feel pressurised into gaining weight simply to appease the critics.

Not another article criticising women for looking 'too thin' - in this case Kate, who I think looks beautiful. As someone who is rarely able to get above 7 stone (admittedly I'm a lot shorter than Kate,) no matter how much I eat, I have had to endure a lifetime of self-appointed medical experts asserting that I am dangerously thin, and that to be a size 6 is 'unnatural,' and even worse - un-sexy. How do you think this makes us feel? It is perfectly natural for some women (and men come to that) to be thin. As I have said, I think Kate looks beautiful and should not have to feel pressurised into trying to gain lots of weight just to keep the critics happy.

Pointing out a woman's faults (whether percieved, actual or imaginary) in a public arena isn't exactly going to help the problem. In many ways, it can be counter-productive and even excacerbate the problem. Princess Diana's weight has been the subject of many a tabloid article and I believe it only excacerbated her bulimia. Likewise, Sarah Ferguson, has been ridiculed for her weight and it led her to yo-yo dieting.

The bottom line is that people whose every move is followed and photographically documented are under extraordinary pressure to stay thin and dress to the nines. Just one poorly chosen outfit can add pounds. In all honesty, I cannot say that I blame her and the many others who live in the public's eye, and I am certainly glad that I may keep my BMI of 23, thank you very much!

To see if you have a point, I just searched Google Images for pictures of Kate Middleton which date back a decade, and I see very little difference. If anything, it's the clothes that have changed her shape, not her eating habits. Her jeans and studenty cardigans have simply been replaced by drab Royal outfits which give the illusion of a different figure. Shoulderpads make Kate's torso look thinner,and just-above-the-knee skirts amplify her already long legs.... making her look taller and (again) thinner.

I'm not sure if there's a fashion expert blogger at Huffington Post but perhaps you should pass the baton onto them because you're seriously barking up the wrong Kate... er, tree. I mean tree.

Hi, thanks for your comments. I am no fashion expert, so I do take what you say on board. Personally, from a personal trainer's standpoint, I do see a change in her body shape. Friends of mine, both men and women believe she is looking very thin these days. Although she has always been slim, her face is now looking a little gaunt, and her arms and legs appear to be much finer, with less muscle tone.

I've got to say I seriously agree- I was only in the nail salon this saturday gone and the lady next to me noticed that every magazine in there (they get all the big ones in every week) had Kate Middleton on the front and we were both commenting on how painfully thin she is looking, she didn't look like that in her Uni days. She is probably one to lose weight when stressed or under pressure and I imagine that's the reason she's gotten so thin, not because she's chosen to be. I hope she makes a solid effort to regain some healthy weight, especially if there are to be mini royals running around in the next few years...

We can't judge a person by how thin they may appear because we don't know what the person's ketone level is in the blood which we will never know either because people's medical information is considered legally confidential. What is considered private should stay private.

Hi, thanks for your comments. I like to think I don't jump to conclusions, it's a subject I have thought about for many months before writing. I have been involved in health & fitness for 20 years, and the comments reflect my personal take on what appears to me to be significant weight loss. I understand other people might draw a different conclusion.
