When you boil it down, a wedding's a wedding's a wedding. Even people who think they're being radical (Bridesmaids all wearing different dresses! Groomsmen in pink suits! Couple leaving on a Vespa!), they're really just fiddling with the details.
Bridal sample sales are hell on toast and I can't recommend them less. They are shorter notice than a sneeze and generally occur during working hours, so you need to drag in the old lady with kind eyes and matching socks that you passed in the street, to assist.
For some couples their wedding day is a wonderful, romantic adventure - two soul mates 'becoming one' forever, their families joined in harmony. For others, the wedding is not so much 'A Whole Lotta Love', as the beginning of an avalanche of emotional anguish, aggrivation and annoyance...
