A fire which engulfed a four-storey block of flats in Worcester Park is under control, the London Fire Brigade said. It took 25 fire engines and 125 firefighters to tackle the blaze. There are no reported injuries.
A total of 20 fire engines and some 125 firefighters were sent to the scene.
"It’s difficult to believe something happened again in the same area."
Flames engulfed the first to sixth floor of the building.
The fire raged through the night, with firefighters called to the unit just after midnight on Thursday.
Gales of up to 65mph swept through southern parts of England on Sunday.
Only two out of 15 newly-completed blocks fitted with sprinklers, spot check found.
As with any disaster, a series of things need to go wrong for it to happen – and this fire was no different.
