Brian Dowling has been announced as Channel 5’s Big Brother host.
Dowling won the second series of the original Channel 4 reality-show back in 2001.
Replacing ex-host Davina McCall, Dowling will play a key part in the show's comeback - introducing the new housemates and interviewing the latest evictees, plus reporting on any gossip.
Dowling told Channel 5: “I am so excited about this opportunity to host one of the most talked about shows on TV. It is 10 years since I won Big Brother so what better way to celebrate and mark that anniversary than to be asked to host the new series.
“It’s on a new channel and a fresh start for the show that has kept the nation entertained for 11 years and I am so excited, to be a part of it!”
Since winning Big Brother in 2001, Brian has dabbled in TV and radio presenting but this will be his most high-profile job to date.
The revamped show is set to kick off August 17 with an “all-star celebrity version”, which will be directly followed by the classic series featuring the public.
Emma Willis will host the spin-off show 'Big Brother's Bit On The Side'.
Channel 5’s owner Richard Desmond's bought the Big Brother format from production company Endemol in a two-year £200m deal, in April last year.
