CSI Star To Quit At End of Series

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation star Marg Helgenberger has announced she will leave the show at the end of the forthcoming 12th series.

Helgenberger, who plays forensic scientist Catherine Willows, made the surprise announcement at a Television Critics Association press conference in Los Angeles.

She has appeared in almost every episode since the show began in 2000, but now plans to leave CSI behind to return to theatre.

Speaking at the conference, she said: "I’ve been itching to get back on the stage".

Although she admitted she’s: "Having a hard time letting go."

Fortunately she can return to CSI if she wants. She explained: "They've always left the door open for me."

Last month it was announced Ted Danson was joining the cast, replacing the outgoing Laurence Fishburne.

The 12th series begins on US TV in September.

Will you be sad to see Marg Helgenberger leave?
