PRESS ASSOCIATION -- A passenger aircraft had to make an unscheduled landing on Monday night after the pilot noticed a crack in the windscreen.
The Air Southwest flight from Newquay in Cornwall to Glasgow, which had 24 passengers and three crew members on board, was diverted to Dublin after the fault was discovered in one of the multiple layers of the windscreen panels.
A company spokesman said: "As a precaution, the crew decided to divert to the nearest airport en route, which was Dublin.
"We apologise to passengers for the inconvenience caused; however, safety is paramount and will not be compromised."
The Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft had left Cornwall at 5pm and was due to arrive in Scotland at 6.45pm. The passengers boarded a replacement aircraft at Dublin and arrived in Glasgow at 10.50pm.
