"But why?" we hear you cry. Well, it's not the material, design or craftsmanship that warrants the hefty price tag - but what the footwear represents. You see, they can help "save the planet."

Let us clarify. Sandal specialists Chipkos have collaborated with American artist David Palmer on the one-off pair of shoes, which have been hand-painted and feature squared-off soles in his renowned abstract style.
So far, so affordable. But Chipkos specialise in sustainability, and have vowed to protect 100,000 square feet of endangered rainforest land with the sale of this one pair.
Whoever purchases the footwear, will also get a meet-and-greet with artist David Palmer, plus a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork, glass display case and a certificate of authenticity.
They will also be treated to a two-night stay in the luxe eco-friendly Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills.
So really, it's quite a lot more than just your average pair of flip-flops...
