UK Riots: Up To 5,000 People Attend Peace March In Birmingham

Up to 5,000 people attended a peace rally in Birmingham following the murder of three men during riots in the city, police have said.

The rally, held on Sunday afternoon called for "one city, one voice for peace" after the deaths of 21-year-old Haroon Jahan and brothers Shazad Ali, 30, and Abdul Musavir, 31 on Wednesday.

The father of one of the murdered men, Tariq Jahan, who last week made an emotional speech calling for calm in his city said he hoped his son and the two other men killed would be remembered by the community, according to the BBC.

"I hope that this community will remember them", he said.

Jahan also thanked the community for their messages of commiseration: "I don't know how to respond, I am one of the people. I am nobody special.

"I am not important but thank you from bottom of my heart from my wife and all our families."
