Sarah Petrie's Rendition Of Red Flag At Labour Party Conference 2011 Flops (VIDEO)

WATCH: Ed Miliband And Labour Members Sing Red Flag

The Labour party's annual conference closed on Thursday with a rendition of 'Red Flag', led by Sarah Petrie, so cringeworthy that the song trended on Twitter almost immediately.

Written in 1889, the song has had less relevance to the party since the creation of New Labour. But one Labour member tweeted that the song was one of the most "unifying things we have in our party".

Members' reactions were mixed, with some saying it was time to end the tradition of singing the socialist anthem. The red flag used to be the party's logo until it was replaced by the red rose in 1986.
