Unconfirmed reports suggest that Colonel Gaddafi, the former Libyan leader, has been captured.
Libyan TV is quoting National Transitional Council (NTC) officials saying that the tyrant has been arrested following the fall of his hometown of Sirte.
Reports indicate that Gaddafi has been shot in both legs.
NTC fighters in Sirte are shooting their guns in celebration of the rumours.
The rumours remain unconfirmed by western journalists. There is no independent verification of this story.
According to the NTC, a "big fish" has been captured, but that could mean other members of the former regime or Gaddafi's family.
The Al Jazeera live blog is reporting that an NTC fighter has confirmed Gaddafi's capture, but cannot say whether he is alive or dead.
Al Jazeera is also reporting that a Libyan immigration minister said that fighters in Sirte confirmed to him that Gaddafi has been captured.
According to Sky sources, the former dictator was "found in a hole, saying 'don't shoot, don't shoot'".
