Lord Sugar has dismissed his first would-be executive from the boardroom of Young Apprentice, with Mahamed Awale becoming this series' first mini mogul to hear the dreaded words, "You're fired!"
The 16-year-old was blasted by Lord Sugar for taking too much credit for his team's work, saying: "Mahamed you've convinced yourself that you were responsible for the majority of the sales, which you weren't."
Mahamed continued to display admirable chutzpah, even after his dismissal, reflecting on his way home: "I'm really surprised at being fired but at the end of the day I’m still going to be a success and it will be Lord Sugar who regrets it."
It had come down to an ill-tempered toss-up between Mahamed and his colleague James, with both trying to claim credit for the ideas behind their product, a frozen dessert - James claiming ownership of the brand and the name, Mahamed calling himself "the brains of the operation".
Lord Sugar proved to have short shrift with both, calling James's economic approach "suicidal" and project leader Harry also came in for some stick.
Although the girls did much better as a team, making a much healthier profit than the boys, cracks were evident in their lineup too, which Lord Sugar's henchman Nick Hewer described as "embarrassingly out of control!"
