When a celeb agrees to strip off for Playboy magazine they know they're going to make the headlines.
Some stars, such as actress Kim Basinger, who posed for a 1983 Playboy pictorial lead, have credited the magazine with opening doors in their careers.
Basinger said the publicity she gained from Playboy helped her get a role in The Natural, a film for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
However, other female stars have spoken out about the trouble a Playboy spread can cause.
Dannii Minogue posed for Hugh Hefner’s flesh-packed publication in 1995, and although she told Piers Morgan "it was fun and I did feel liberated", she also broke down in tears as she described how she was forced to strip to pay off her debts.
Speaking on Morgan's show in 2009, Minogue said she owed more than £150,000 and was too proud to turn to her older sister Kylie for help.
She explained: "My parents didn't want me to do it. My dad was saying, 'Doing this is forever - you can never, ever change it.'
"Kylie knew why I was doing it. I could have asked her for the money, but it wasn't in my nature.
"I never wanted to admit the trouble I was in. I should have been looking at my finances."
Now, the once fresh-faced Lindsay Lohan seems to be making the same desperate move that Minogue did in 1995, not for money necessarily - although it will help her financial situation - but because the Mean Girls actress is desperate to make headlines for something other than her legal battles.
As pictures of Lohan arriving at a morgue for community service make the front pages, it's no surprise she thinks it's about time people spoke about her for some other reason.
The trouble is, posing for Playboy simply won't bring anything new to Lohan's reputation. Let's face it, everyone has already seen her breasts.
The most successful time in her career was actually when she played the sweet and innocent young actress, not the troubled party girl.
Sad as it is, Lohan isn't the first star to turn to Playboy when times are tough. Reality TV star Heidi Montag also stripped off when she was closing in on the end of her 15 minutes of fame. Unlike Montag, who’s best known for her surgically-enhanced quest for perfection, Lohan does have acting talent, but has been successfully keeping that under wraps for a long while.
She didn't get those starring roles in Parent Trap, Herbie, Freaky Friday or Mean Girls by taking her clothes off, it's a shame she thinks she must resort to it now.
