TV journalist Kayla Tausche was unexpectedly muted during a recent report from the U.S. Capitol -- when a passerby accidentally swiped her microphone.
CNBC reporter Tausche had been talking about the MF Global hearing, when a staffer for one of the representatives rushed between her and the camera.
In his haste, the blundering staffer not only interrupted the live broadcast, but he also snagged himself on Tausche's microphone and ripped it from her chest.
The reporter, who briefly carried on before realising no-one could hear her, then had to bend down out of camera view and retrieve her equipment before continuing.
Speaking after the event (and this time with a microphone) she said: "A staffer for one of the representatives walked straight in front of our live shot, got tangled up in my mic, brought me down.
"I tried to get back up and realised no-one could hear what I was saying. It's all in a days work, what can you do?"
Interviewing her about the incident a CNBC colleague joked: "It's a good thing what you did to him later was off camera, because I hear the guy is still checked into intensive care, you are ruthless."
At least we thought it was a joke before Tausche added: "He's not going to be coming to the hearing next week, he knows better than that now,"but now we're not so sure.
