The bankers that file in and out of Canary Wharf every day are used to getting a frosty reception at the minute, but even they would have been surprised to see what was being created in London's Ice Sculpting Festival when it took place on their doorsteps today.
Let's be honest, winter hasn't really arrived (...yet) so the chance to see men in gloves and hats take chainsaws to giant blocks of ice was a welcome seasonal treat for those who attended.
A mixture of amateurs completing workshops and steely-eyed professionals did their best to turn blocks of melting water into something more artistic - with many terrible results and a handful of quite breathtaking ones.
In the latter category included the handiwork of Asanga Amerasinghe, the master sculptor who created a giant Jubilee diamond to mark The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Year - and kick off what is now the 4th annual London Ice Sculpting Festival.
Equally impressive was ice sculptor Krisztian Pogany's Boris Bike, that looked so perfect you could jump on it and ride off. Well, if you had a very thick pair of trousers on.
