Richard Madeley Offers Sympathy To Troubled Chef Antony Worrall Thompson

'He Was Under Pressure'

TV presenter Richard Madeley has offered his sympathy to celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson, insisting he "feels sorry" for him after he was arrested for shoplifting.

The chef was caught pilfering goods from a Tesco supermarket in Henley-on-Thames earlier this month and TV host Richard, who was once wrongly accused of stealing Tesco champagne, has now spoken out in support of Worral Thompson.

"It seems to me that he was under some kind of pressure - and he has actually said that."

Antony, who stole from the shop on five separate occasions, is now seeking help for his issues.

The star recently blamed his troubled childhood for the cause of carrying out the thefts.

In an interview with TV host Adrian Chiles, he explained: "I think my psychoanalyst will say it was because I was sent to boarding school aged three, abused four times, locked in coal holes, abused by my mother's new partner and beaten so badly that it drew blood."
