Uggs Banned From Class At Pottstown Middle School After Pupils Smuggle Phones

Things may be about to turn "Uggly" at an American school after students were made to toe the line by a ban on the boots due to problems with smuggled mobile phones.

Pottstown Middle School, Pennsylvania, has enforced a ban on the snuggly sheepskin shoes as a result of pupils stashing the forbidden items down the side.

According to Reuters, the ban was enforced on Monday.

Superintendent Reed Lindley said the school head asked for the boot ban "because of the classroom disruptions that are resulting from ringing cell phones", the Daily Telegraph reported.

The school's principal, Gail Cooper, sent a letter home explaining the new uniform regulations:

"Students may continue to wear outdoor boots to and from school to protect them from cold, snow and ice but need to change into a pair of sneakers or shoes before entering homeroom. Students may also continue to wear lace up, tight at the ankle, boots, shoes and high top sneakers."
