George Clooney 'Look-A-Like' Wins Trip To The Oscars, But There Are Some Doubters...

Oscars Trip For Clooney's 'Double' ???!!!

A man has won a trip to the Oscars in a George Clooney lookalike competition - but fans of the A-lister may have to look hard at the winner's photograph to see any similarity.

David James Glendon pipped 782 other entrants to the post in the prestigious competition - perhaps, unsurprisingly, held in an Irish whiskey Bar.

The 27-year-old Kilkenny local scooped the prize get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend the Oscars in Los Angeles in March.

But his physical likeness to the Clooney has been called into question by some KilkennyPeople.ie commenters.

One wrote: "What criteria was used? Possibly just one? That he be male and have hair ?" while another, perhaps cruelly, said: "Who judged this? Stevie Wonder?"

A person purporting to be from a George Clooney fansite perhaps summed it up the best: "We saw your article and want to pass our congratulations to David Glendon on winning this competition.

"We were wondering what criteria were you using to judge the competition because although he's a good looking man, he doesn't look a whole lot like George Clooney."

Kilkenny-based filmmaker and historian Gabriel Murray, who organised the competition, told the Kilkenny People: "My company Olympia Films were allocated four tickets to the Oscars in March so we will be taking David with us. He will also be attending the Irish Film and TV Awards, which are held in Dublin next month."

Like Clooney, Mr Glendon is also an actor, albeit in local productions.
