Harry Redknapp has distanced himself from the England manager job by saying: "I can't take my eye off the ball at Tottenham."
Redknapp believes it would be too "difficult" to do two jobs and that his "focus has to be on one job".
Pundits had thought the FA might offer the Spurs boss a part-time England job - but Redknapp has rejected this idea.
"It wouldn't be fair to anyone at this club if I let my thoughts go elsewhere," he told a news conference in north London on Friday.
"I was really looking to calm down for a few days and take it easy." He said he was "flattered" by the links to the England manager role.
Yesterday Redknapp claimed he'd "not even thought about" the England manager's job.
Despite Redknapp's desire to keep his focus on Spurs, there is now a huge swell of suport for him taking the England role.
Redknapp is the bookies favourite for FA manager as well, with William Hill slashing Redknapp's odds to 8/15 to take over the nation's team in time for the first Euro 2012 match against France. Coral has stopped taking wagers on the bet.
David Davies, former executive director of the FA, backed Redknapp to become the new England manager, saying he had public support.
Footballers including Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen and Rio Ferdinand have all tweeted to say they'd back Redknapp as England manager.
