A male-stripping company branded "sordid and distasteful" has defended a performance at a primary school fundraising event, saying the act was just "innocent fun".
Dreamboys, who have a show in the West End, count Cancer Research and Help For Heroes among their charity clients.
Entertainers from the 23-year-old business were booked by the Friends of Clavering Primary group to appear at a village hall in Essex. The event was to raise funds for Clavering Primary School, and managed to raise more than £1,500 according to local paper Saffron Walden Weekly.
But one Saffron Walden resident was "horrified" by the appearance of the male strippers.
One mother went so far as to say she would be withdrawing her children from the primary school, stating she didn't want her children "using computers funded by such a disgusting event".
But a spokesman for Dreamboys told The Huffington Post UK the company was not "sordid or seedy in the slightest".
"We are always appearing at events raising money for schools.
Tried to invite the horrified resident to one of their West End shows so she could "judge for herself" but said he has failed to find any contact details for her.
"She seems to have tarred us with the same brush as lap dancers but we're nothing like them. It's innocent fun."
The event saw dancers Jay Jay O'Neill, Tommy Love and and All The Way Jay don fireman, biker and officer uniforms, to the delight of more than 100 women.
"There was even a drag queen who works as an air hostess for British Airways in his spare time. She provided the comedy."
A spokesperson for Clavering Primary and Clavering and Arkesden Pre-School said the school was supportive of the parent associations and "grateful" for the funds donated to the establishments.
"We trust that both associations raise money for the schools using reputable and appropriate means. We are sorry to learn that some parents were upset to learn of the recent event and assure them future events will be considered more carefully and the schools made fully aware of them."
