Benedict Cumberbatch has described his Star Trek 2 role as a "privilege".
The Sherlock star joins Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana for JJ Abrams' upcoming science-fiction sequel, in which he has been cast as a villain.
"I think they are brilliant, and it's a real privilege to be on that set," he told MTV.com.
Despite his years of experience, Benedict - who last appeared in Steven Spielberg's War Horse - admitted he has been picking up some tips from them, playing down Chris' comments that he is "super talented".
"I actually did a year at drama school, so I'm not that trained; I'm not that classical, but I'm flattered. There's a patter and a kind of knowledge of who they're playing and the other main characters, which I'm learning a lot from," he continued.
"In a weird way, it's a very easy thing to get up to speed with, because everybody is so welcoming and gets along with one another. It's great to work with Chris. He's very professional. So is Zach, who I've been working a lot with; I adore him, he's a brilliant, brilliant guy."
The 35-year-old, who is keeping tight-lipped about his character, said he is immersing himself into the world of Star Trek.
"I'm kind of getting busy with the film now. I've been away doing other things - The Hobbit, which was fantastic. And so my part of the film is really kicking in now. It's great fun," he added.
