WHO? Nicola Formichetti and Sebastien Piegne for Thierry Mugler

IN A NUTSHELL: Formichetti looked to Asia for influence for his Autumn/Winter collection, as well as the techniques and contrasts brought about "in keeping with a modern idea of 'the salon'". Speaking about his designs, he also referenced "the graphic stylisation of the natural world in Eastern art" and particularly, "Thierry Mugler's 'Insect' collection from 1997".
BEG, BORROW OR STEAL: We're looking forward to seeing Lady Gaga try out any number of the almost angelic all-white outfits, with fur detailing, strong peplums and sheer, cut-out skirts. However, we fell in love with the power shoulders which featured on each and every design and the array of suede Louboutins with Gaga style platforms.

VERDICT: The attention to detail throughout this collection couldn't fail to impress the packed-out gymnasium in Paris last night. The way that each design sculpted the body and played with proportions suggested that these clothes aren't just for making statement in. High-waisted trousers and jersey dresses brought an injection of red into the otherwise monochrome collection, but we're predicting that the more wearable belted, cashmere coats with fur-trimmed collars will be the most sought-after pieces next season. (Unless you're Lady Gaga, of course).
