Emmerdale: Sophie Powles Set For Dramatic Departure From 'Emmerdale'

SOAP WATCH: Sophie Set For Dramatic Goodbye

Emmerdale star Sophie Powles has admitted she hasn't thought about her "dream" departure from the show.

The 23-year-old, who plays factory worker Holly Barton, is set to follow in the footsteps of her screen dad John (James Thornton) and say goodbye to the Dales this summer after three years on the ITV1 soap.

"I haven't thought too much about my exit story because I've been working so hard. But I hope the producers have something really exciting lined up for me," she told Inside Soap.

Holly will soon suffer a potentially lethal overdose of heroin on screen as she continues to grieve for her dad, only to be saved by Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley). But Sophie hopes there won't be more tragedy ahead of her departure.

"Holly has already seen how badly her drug addiction has affected her family, and I think that will put her off," the actress said.

"They say 'once an addict, always an addict' - but Holly wanted her dad to be proud of her more than anything," she added.
