The Help was the surprise home-grown hit of this year's Awards season, garnering Octavia Spencer an Oscar and BAFTA for her role as southern maid Minny Jackson, in the tale of black maids and their white mistresses, in early 1960s Mississippi.
Octavia Spencer's castmates included Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Emma Stone, Bryce Dallas Howard and Allison Janney - a classy roll call rewarded at the Screen Actors Guild Awards with the gong for Best Ensemble.
