How do you ensure a statement accessory makes a statement? You forsake the rest of the outfit. This is the sartorial lesson that we've drawn from Victoria's Secret model Candice Swanepoel's cover shoot by Terry Richardson for GQ's May issue.

But it wasn't all Prada accessories and glossy shoots for poor old Candice y'know. In an interview with the magazine Candice talks about how she struggled to fit in as a teen. "A year before I got scouted, I would watch a lot of FashionTV," she says. "At school, I got teased because I was so thin and awkward-looking. But the girls on TV looked similar to me."

Looking at these photos we're suffering a sympathy malfunction. And although we take issue with yet another Victoria's Secret model telling woeful tales of being unattractive and bullied as a teen, these photos are surely the ultimate revenge on all those school bullies.
