Kylie Minogue's 25th year as a pop superstar is set to end with a big bang - she has been invited to organise Sydney's New Year celebrations in Australia.
The Aussie singer is celebrating her anniversary by embarking on a stripped-down Anti-Tour, which began Down Under earlier this month. But there won't be anything intimate about her role as a creative ambassador for Sydney's New Year’s Eve bash on 31 December - she's promising a musical and style extravaganza.
In an announcement about the honour, Kylie says: "I will be the creative ambassador for 2012 Sydney's New Year's Eve. I'll be working alongside some of Australia's best creative talent, creating an exciting event for the whole family, one with lots of dazzle, lots of energy, lots of great music and of course, about seven tons of fireworks, which will go off with a bang, celebrating love, life and everything in between.
"As some of you know, this year I celebrate my 25 year anniversary, K25, and I can't think of a better place to cap off the year than in Australia, and Sydney is the New Year's Eve capital of the world, so who wouldn't want to be part of that?
"It's such a privilege to be part of this event and I promise you a night to remember."
