Jessie J Hits Back At Health Claims

Jessie J has hit out at reports she is at being monitored by doctors following fears for her health.

The singer - who has previously spoken of how she suffered a minor stroke at the age of 18 - has attacked the media for making a "joke" of her health branding their claims "lazy" and "untrue".

In a statement she posted to her Twitter account, she wrote:

"Can I be totally honest for a minute?....

"I was in and out of hospital with REAL health scares my whole childhood.I have a irregular heartbeat I've had all my life&I suffered a minor stroke at 18...

"Music was&always will be my way to inspire&prove to myself I could get better&give me hope when I was young. Songs like BWR don't hide that

"Every interview I did when I 1st bought my music out I was asked how I pulled through&kept;going through the health problems I had when I was young & I always said 'Because I wanted to prove you can'

"The media supported that I represent so many young people that suffer in silence&are;dealing with illness but still have dreams just like everybody else...

"Then I go on #thevoiceuk & stories are like boomerangs the media tries to throw them away but just keep coming back. Lazy. I am sure I have read the 'health scare' story about Cheryl, Tulisa, Kelly the list is endless. Its an easy believable but untrue way the media works.

"But I will say this. My health is a very important part of my life & I don't take lightly to the media making a joke about it. I have made huge sacrifices to making sure my body and mind can deal with my life & I am happy I am healthy & I am trying to make the UK proud.

"So to the media, next time you think what negative story can we write today. Go and visit the kids at your local hospital & write about how brave & scared & inspirational they are to let them know they are not alone. Would definately make for a better read.

"For everyone saying ignore it. No I won't. We have to stand up for what we believe in. The media should not be allowed to write untrue articles. If no one ever says anything, it will NEVER change."

The star has recently been in the US promoting her music, and is currently a coach on The Voice.
