Trevor Francis has been discharged from hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack on Friday.
Birmingham Heartlands Hospital have confirmed the 57-year-old was released after recovering well from successful surgery.
A hospital spokesperson said: "Trevor Francis was discharged from Birmingham Heartlands Hospital this afternoon.''
Francis earned cult status with Birmingham, the club where he starred between 1970 and 1979, before he became Britain's first £1million player when he joined Brian Clough's Nottingham Forest.

He scored the winning goal for Forest in the 1979 European Cup final against Malmo, subsequently helping the team reach the 1980 final against Hamburg although he missed the victory through injury.
Francis left Forest in 1981 and enjoyed spells with Manchester City, Sampdoria, Atalanta and Rangers, before turning his hand to management.
He was manager of QPR and Sheffield Wednesday before he returned to Birmingham in 1996, when he led the club to the 2001 League Cup final.
They were unluckily beaten by Liverpool on penalties and Francis left St Andrews later that year, moving on to Crystal Palace, whom he left in 2003.
Since Palace, he has not held a managerial post and has regularly been a co-commentator for Sky Sports' Football First coverage since.
