It was inevitable, really.
As soon as Coronation Street's bookish lothario William Roache admitted to bedding more than 1000 women, who should step forward but his old Nemesis Mike Baldwin, aka actor Johnny Briggs, with a figure to dwarf that?!
Recently Roache, who has played Ken Barlow on The Street for more than 50 years, claimed to have bedded over 1,000 women during a spontaneous chat with Piers Morgan, and a live audience.
Now Johnny Briggs, who played Roache’s longtime on-screen rival Mike Baldwin for more than 30 years, including having an affair with Ken's wife Deirdre, before leaving the show in 2009, claims to have more notches on his bed post.
"I'm amazed that Bill Roache said he's slept with that many women,” he told The Mirror.
"What goes on in the bedroom stays in the bedroom."
Fine. So we're not going to hear anything further on the matter from him, then. Oh, hold on... here he goes:
"I was a bit of a ladies' man myself.
"I don't know if I can say how many I've bedded, but it's probably more than him."
There he goes. The boy can't help himself. And there's obviously something in the Corrie water. Whoever next - Derek Wilton?
