Redknapp Appointed... As A BBC Pundit For The Euros

Harry Redknapp, snubbed by the Football Association in favour of Roy Hodgson for the new England manager's job, will act as a BBC pundit at the European Championship.

Redknapp worked for the corporation at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and memorably lambasted Fabio Capello's tactics during the Three Lions' 4-1 defeat to Germany.

The BBC, whose Match of the Day format has been pilloried for being as "illuminating as a Chilean mine" and accused of resembling a back-slapping old-boys club, are under pressure to cover the Euros expertly this summer.

And with the alternative ITV1, boasting Adrian Chiles and their Polaroid snaps-with-sigs, the onus on the BBC is greater than ever before.
