Police today named the man killed in a motorway pile up involving five vehicles.
Steven Cracknell, 22, died when two lorries, two vans and a car were involved in the incident on the M5 in Gloucestershire on Tuesday night.
Gloucestershire Police said the accident happened on the northbound carriageway between junctions 8 and 9, near Tewkesbury.
Mr Cracknell, of Batley, West Yorkshire, was a passenger in one of the vans and he was taken to Worcester Royal Hospital but died shortly after arrival.
The driver of the same van, a 27-year-old from Mirfield, West Yorkshire, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and he remains in a serious condition.
A 46-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent, who was driving one of the lorries, was also taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he is being treated for serious, potentially life-changing, injuries.
A police spokeswoman said: "The family have requested that media do not contact them directly."
