TV psychic Derek Acorah has hit back after reports he made a "sickening" claim Madeleine McCann is dead.
In 2007 three-year-old Madeleine disappeared while on holiday in Portugal with her parents Kate and Gerry McCann.
Mr Acorah, though, was reported in The Sun as being convinced she has passed away and will soon be reincarnated.
He told The Sun: ‘I know her parents are convinced Maddie is alive and I’m really sorry – but the little one has been over in the spirit world for some time.
‘I don’t think she’ll be there long before she reincarnates. When children pass over who haven’t had full lives I believe they choose the time to come back in the same form again – as another little girl.’
His claims, made while promoting his latest tour just days after the fifth anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance, have been met with disgust by the McCanns, according to The Sun.
But today he has hit back on Twitter:
Acorah, 62, claims that he was told about Madeleine’s fate buy his ‘spirit guide’, Sam.
However, the McCanns are convinced that their daughter is alive and Scotland Yard also believes the case is still worth investigating.
Detectives are currently sifting through thousands of pieces of evidence.
Acorah’s claims come after low-cost vacation planner VoucherDigg landed in hot water after using an image of Madeleine McCann to advertise a travel deal.
