Alessandro del Piero ended his Juventus career in defeat, as the Bianconeri were vanquished 2-0 by Napoli in the Coppa Italia final.

The 37-year-old was withdrawn in the 68th minute to a standing ovation - almost 19 years after his September 1993 debut.

He went on to make 705 appearances for Juve, scoring 289 goals for the club. He bagged a hat-trick on his first start back in 1993.

A World Cup winner with Italy in 2006, he made his first appearance for the Azzurri in 1995, and went on to make 91 appearances, hitting 27 goals.

A week ago Del Piero bid goodbye to Juventus fans in the club's final home match of the season, as tears were shed on the terraces. He scored in the 3-1 victory over Atalanta.

Conjecture has varied as to who Il Pinturicchio will sign for, from America's MLS to a move to the Premier League.

For the Neapolitans, it was their first major trophy in 22 years.
