Cheryl Cole proved she's still got the power to wow on stage as she gave an energetic performance of her new single Call My Nameon Saturday.
Her outfit was questionable and the crotch grabbing perhaps unnecessary, but the "live" performance was flawless. The catchy tune is bound to be a hit and the Geordie beauty had some advice to give The Voice semi-finalists...
"Don't forget why you've come to the show... just live the dream," said the talent show veteran and former X Factor judge.
Her friend and The Voice coach Will.i.am tweeted: "That's my girl @CherylCole rockin it #thevoiceUK", as she performed.
And here's how the contestants did tonight...
Kicking off the semi-final was Ruth Brown from Tom Jones' team. Starting out a little raspy, Ruth gave a hearty and emotional performance of Christina Aguilera's The Voice Within, dedicated to her father.
She didn't hit the high notes that Aguilera showcased in her original version, but the ending was pretty breathtaking. Bursting into tears, Ruth said: "If it wasn't for The Voice I don't know where I'd be, I really miss my dad."
Jessie J noted: "Your voice fills up every bit of the air."
Vince Kidd, Jessie's protégé, chose to perform "his idol" Amy Winehouse's hit Back To Black. Vince gave it a dark twist with his soulful voice and Tom said: "Song choice is the most important thing… you made a great choice." And Danny added: "It was really nice for you sing a straight cover." Will claimed: "You made me like that song."
Next it was Max (minus his guitar) from team Danny on the stage, singing The Police's Every Breath You Take. It wasn't perfect but such a popular song choice can't have done him any harm. Will.i.am said: "The arrangement was exactly like The Police so that suggests you are singing like Sting, so psychologically I want to hear it sung like Sting… you hit a flat note." Danny jumped in to defend his guy, but Will snapped back: "Do you want me to lie?"
From team Will, it was Jaz performing The Beatles' Let It Be, with the backing of his school choir. Jessie said: "There were pitchy bits in the beginning," obviously none of the coaches were holding back their criticism tonight. Tom was much nicer, adding: "It was great and I loved it."
Then it was on to Leanne from team Tom, who impressively belted out Whitney Houston's Run To You. She received a standing ovation from all four coaches. "Every hair on my body is standing on end," said Danny and Tom added: "I always knew you had the power."
Becky performed Corinne Bailey Rae's Like A Star and Jessie stuck up for her act as the other coaches picked apart her performance. She said: "I think it's important for people to sing something that not everyone knows."
Bo from team Danny took on Coldplay's Charlie Brown, which was a lacklustre performance with little to get excited about. Will said to Danny: "You've made her the superstar she is."
Will gave Tyler Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody to battle. I'm not sure why, it was painful to listen to and I can think of dozens of tracks that would have been better suited. The coaches seemed pleased with it though, Jessie said: "That's not easy, that's like five songs in one." And Will added: "I'm super duper proud… I'm lost for words."
For the first time in the series the power of who stays in the competition and makes it through to the final is in purely the public's hands. The results will be announced on Sunday's show.
