Jessie J says she is ready for a style makeover after her cartoon image left her 'looking like a transvestite'.
In an exclusive interview with Grazia magazine, the singer admits she wants a complete image overhaul.
“I started to look like a cartoon character with the fringe and the catsuits,” she says. “I ended up looking like a transvestite. I want to change my hair, change my style. I want to be allowed to grow.”
The singer - who kept it regal in a photoshoot for the mag - said she feels proud to be performing at next week's Diamond Jubilee Concert.
“When I got the letter asking me to perform, I felt really proud," she said. "It’s a proper letter from the Queen’s secretary. I’m keeping it in a memory book. It’s written on this lovely thick notepaper. I keep feeling it.”
The Voice coach also addressed rumours of her ‘diva’ behaviour on the BBC talent show, saying: “There isn’t anything flash in my dressing room. No champagne. No yoga mats or anything. That was meant to be one of my diva demands.
"I did ask for a scented candle. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for a nice, relaxing smell in the room. I also asked for a lava lamp. When I was a kid, they used to have a room at Great Ormond Street Hospital where you’d go and chill out. It was full of lava lamps and water lamps and since then it’s always been a way to help me wind down. I never got one, and that’s OK.
"But is there anything wrong with asking for what you know is good for you? Does that make you a diva, a pain? Or does it make you someone who knows what they want?”
The full interview appears in this week’s Grazia magazine, on sale now (Tuesday). Tickets for Jessie’s 2013 ‘Nice To Meet You’ arena tour are available now.
