F1 Car Cut In Half By Sauber Team (VIDEO)

WATCH: F1 Car Cut In Half

The Sauber F1 team doesn't usually feature on the podium after races (except in Malaysia this year, of course).

As such they appear to have come up with another way to find fame.

They cut one of their cars in half.

Apparently the process of slicing the delicate (and totally real) F1 car into two clean pieces took more than two years.

The Sauber F1 Team mechanics sliced the car "lengthwise down the middle with the precision of true craftsmen" according to the team.

Chief Designer Matt Morris can be seen in the video pointing out where and how everything works.

"Formula One is all about cutting-edge technology," Morris said, according to GrandPrix.com. "We've all seen countless pictures of racing cars, but wouldn't it be great to really explore inside it - as if peering into the core of an apple?"

Driver Sergio Pérez also turns up in the video, to show how tightly he has to fit in the car for the duration of the race.
