A deranged father dangled his terrified three-year-old daughter from a sixth-floor window after having a row with her mother.
The heart-stopping scene happened in Guangzhou, capital of southern China's Guangdong province, just days after the family had moved into the flat.
Neighbours said that the man opened the window at about 10.30am, and then calmly sat on the edge while dangling his hysterical daughter above the drop below by her wrist.
He would occasionally support her with his foot, but for most of the time held onto her by just one arm. The mother could be heard screaming inside the apartment and begging him to stop.
Neighbours watched in horror as the little girl clung to the man's knee, screaming in terror, while he appeared unmoved.
Emergency services were called and firefighters quickly set up an air cushion below in case the little girl fell.
Meanwhile, police entered the apartment to reason with the man, who was allegedly under the influence of drugs.
When he continued to refuse to let the little girl go, they rushed him and, thankfully, managed to haul her to safety and into her mother's arms.
The girl is believed to have been physically unharmed after her ordeal. Police arrested the father.
