Czech Republic V Portugal Euro 2012: Karel Poborsky's Euro 96 Goal Settles The Quarter-Final Tie (VIDEO)

WATCH: Poborsky Settles Czechs-Portugal Encounter At Euro 96

Czech Republic and Portugal take on one another in the first Euro 2012 quarter-final on Thursday night, a repeat of the Euro 96 final in which Karel Poborsky cemented his cult status.

His winner, the only goal of the game, was a sublime and subtle lob which fooled Vitor Baia in the Portuguese goal and sent the Czech hordes into raptures at Villa Park.

It was that piece of magic which persuaded Alex Ferguson to recruit the long-haired midfielder for Manchester United instead of, wait for it... Zinedine Zidane.

Poborsky wasn't as terrible as some suggest he was at United, but it's fair to say Ferguson identified the wrong midfielder. He'll always have Villa Park though.
