'The Inbetweeners' Red Band US Trailer (VIDEO)

NSFW: 'The Inbetweeners' Go To America

The Inbetweeners Movie, about the gruesome love failures of four school friends Will, Simon, Jay and Neil, who went on a booze-fuelled coming-of-age holiday in Malia, Crete, became the biggest surprise hit of 2011.

Taking £45 million at the summer box office, a healthy return on a £3.5m production budget, it earned the most money on an opening weekend ever, beating previous record holders Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and The Hangover: Part 2.

Now, catapulting stars of the E4 series Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison further into fame, the film is set to be released Stateside on 7 September.

A new red band trailer has been released to entice US audiences to watch this gawky British comedy and remind fans of the gawky, all-too-recognisable antics that accompany that awkward age - neither children nor men.

Back in the UK, there are rumours that the quartet could be returning for a fourth series, despite The Inbetweeners previously insisting they wouldn't be back.

However, it seems hungry television execs may have other ideas, with plans now being mooted to show them in action at college or at work, presumably with their usual healthy romantic ambitions thwarted by the final reel, according to the Daily Star.

But one of the cast has hinted that all four may not make it to the end of the fourth series, with Buckley telling the Daily Star, "We have to see what happens. Maybe one of them dies and the other three have to join up for the funeral.

"But the question is, who are they gonna get rid of?"
