Mitch Winehouse: 'I Can't Listen To Amy's 'Back To Black' Album'

'I Can't Listen To Back To Black'

Exactly one year on from Amy Winehouse's death, her father Mitch has paid tribute to his daughter in a heartfelt blog for HuffPost UK.

Remembering the singer, Mitch has spoken of how he finds it difficult to listen to her biggest selling album, Back To Black, as it brings back painful memories of her turbulent relationship with ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

Mitch admits he still misses Amy "more than he can say"

"Sometimes listening to Amy's music helps me; sometimes it makes me feel more sad," he wrote.

"I have always found it hard to listen to the songs Amy wrote for Black to Black. That's because all of the songs on that album, apart from Rehab, are about her ex-husband Blake, and all of the terrible things he put her through.

"Some of them she hated, because they reminded her of all of the bad times with Blake. Towards the end they became very difficult for her to sing."

However, not all of Amy's songs are tinged with sadness for Mitch, as in the blog he recalls the passion they both shared for music.

Mitch and Amy shared their passion for music

"My mother passed her love of music on to me and I passed it on to Amy. It formed a big part of my relationship with Amy and was as important to her as it was to me," he wrote.

"I loved her voice - for me she was the greatest female vocalist of all time - but I also cherish Amy's lyrics, and the part other music played in her life as she was growing up."
