Jason Manford Defends Gary Barlow Against Online Trolls Criticising Olympics Performance

Jason Defends Gary Over Online Trolls

Jason Manford has launched a scathing attack on some of his own fans after they left cruel remarks about Gary Barlow on one of the comedian's Facebook posts.

On Sunday, the former 8 Out Of 10 Cats star had posted to praise "superstar" Gary over his decision to perform at the Olympics closing ceremony, just days after he and his wife's daughter was stillborn.

However, the post attracted some insensitive comments towards the Take That singer, with some saying he was "doing it for the money" and that "he isn't the only one to receive bad news".

In an extensive blog post, Jason blasted these "internet idiots", branding them "disgusting".

"Some of you are utterly horrendous. I mean genuinely thick as shit, heartless wastes of oxygen who I am ashamed have liked my page and my work," he wrote.

Going on to discuss specific comments individually, he added: "What does get to me, and what does anger me, are people’s genuine opinions.

"A joke is a joke, we’ve all told an off colour joke to a close friend, knowing full well that it’s not your actual opinion. But some of the comments I saw in those 334 would make your blood run cold."
