Naughty Frankie! The adventurous Jack Russell from Gravesend, Kent, recently gave his owners the slip during the early hours and ran away to London. (What a wag! He must be barking mad! Etc, etc...)
But rather than travel on foot, Frankie's incredible journey involved an eventful 50-mile train ride from his local station to King's Cross.
Having waited patiently alongside commuters on the platform, the ticket-dodging pooch boarded the 6.56am service, where he enjoyed 30 minutes of freedom (and possibly read a couple of free newspapers while drinking a lukewarm coffee) before train manager Richard Cheeseman apprehended him.
Quick-thinking railway staff called the phone number on the dog's collar. And Frankie's frantic owners, Jane Abbott and her daughter Stephanie, jumped on a later service to retrieve him.
"What we don't understand is why Frankie chose rail as he's never been on a train before," Jane told The Sun. Hmmm... maybe he'd just missed the coach.
Anyway, all's well that ends well - because the four-legged explorer is now back home with his family...
(In case you were wondering, that's Jane's son, James, on the end.)
