Skyfall's Daniel Craig And Director Sam Mendes Talk To Empire Magazine About The Forthcoming James Bond Film...

Daniel Craig: 'This Is The Best Place To Be For An Actor'

Just in case you'd forgotten there's a new James Bond film in cinemas in about six weeks from now, here are the latest snippets from cast and crew.

Daniel Craig wants "to be inspired"

Skyfall director Sam Mendes has been tight-lipped about narrative so far, although we do know that a secret from the past of M (Dame Judi Dench) comes back to haunt her, and put the whole of MI6 in peril. We know that Javier Bardem plays the villain Raoul Silva, with a glorious blonde wig.

And we know that James Bond (Daniel Craig) must work in isolation to save the organisation. Oh, and we know that Ralph Fiennes turns up. Here's what else the director and his leading man have got for us this week, courtesy of Empire Magazine...

Sam Mendes on his approach to taking on James Bond...

"There are quite a lot of new things in this movie, but I never had the intention to reinvent the wheel."

Mendes on Javier Bardem's Silva...

"It is larger than life in one respect but full of surprises - never entirely, at any given moment, exactly what you think it is, Javier takes some risks. But he's an amazing actor and I think he gives you something you may consider to have been absent from Bond movies for a long time. Silva's up there with the greats, for me, and that's why I worked very hard to persuade one of the great actors of the world to do it..."

Daniel Craig on playing 007...

"When I'm doing the movie I'm totally single-minded. I keep my energy levels as high as I can all the time. I want to inspire, and be inspired. And I'm lucky enough to work with some incredible people with vast experience. I was standing on top of a train in Turkey with this crew of people, I looked around and I thought, 'You know, this is the best place to be for an actor.' So I kind of give it all I've got, and then collapse for a while!"

The full interview appears in this month's Empire magazine, on sale now. The iPad edition is also available to download from Thursday via iTunes.

The film is in UK cinemas on 26 October. Skyfall pictures below...
