In the past week there has been some talk of the character and humour building properties of being born an ugly duckling, and growing up to be an ugly duck rather than a beautiful swan. Nikki Finke, a ‘Hollywood Insider’ (two words I always take to mean ‘prostitute’, although in this case, not so…) wrote on her blog ‘Deadline’ that film execs should stop casting beautiful actresses in comic roles as they could never be funny on account of their fecundity.
