Brit Awards 2013: The Script Frontman Danny O'Donoghue Doesn't Want To Win Best International Group

'Don't Give Brit Award To The Script'

The Script frontman Danny O'Donoghue has urged Brit Award bosses not to give his band the Best International Group prize because there are other acts on the shortlist who are "more deserving".

The Irish rockers are nominated for the trophy along with fun., Alabama Shakes, The Black Keys and The Killers, and the winner will be announced at the annual ceremony in London next month.

However, singer O'Donoghue is adamant his band is doing well and doesn't need a career boost from a Brit Award, so he wants the prize to go to one of the other groups.

He tells Britain's Daily Star newspaper, "I was talking to a lot of people when I was on holiday over Christmas and it seems the more awards you get the more complacent you start to become.

"We've always been pipped at it for whatever reason but it's never stopped us from going on and being successful.

"The stage we're at now - (hit track) Hall of Fame has gone platinum in America, we're No. 1 in Germany - I say don't give us the award, give it to someone who is more deserving, a younger band who need the help. We don't need the help. Finally we've got a bit of recognition - but we're rocking and rolling with or without awards."
