Andy Murray maintained his perfect record at the Australian Open with a comfortable defeat of Gilles Simon to reach the quarter-final stage.
The Scot's 6-3 6-1 6-3 victory confirmed his passage to the last eight for a ninth consecutive Grand Slam.
Simon was still smarting from an arduous five-setter with compatriot Gael Monfils in the previous round in a match which drifted into the early hours of Sunday morning.

Simon said he had "completely lost control" during the four hours and 43 minutes marathon in round three, and Murray breezed past him on Monday.
Murray's victory against the Frenchman came in one hour and 35 minutes.
