The US Masters Par 3 is a chance for the golfers to enjoy some fun before the hard work at Augusta begins on Thursday, and Rory McIlroy decided to invite girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki along... to caddy for him.
Most players treat the event - first played in 1960 - as light relief and invite family or friends to act as their caddies. The legendary "Big Three" of Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player were in attendance, with the trio due to hit ceremonial drives as honorary starters for the tournament proper this morning.
"Her putt was this far away."
McIlroy allowed Wozniacki to hit his tee shot on the ninth, only to see her duff it a few yards into the water. He ended up several over par, with American Ted Potter set to carry the "curse" of the par-three champion into the 77th Masters.
Ulsterman McIlroy is paired with Keegan Bradley - who he beat in the Ryder Cup singles at Medinah last year - and Sweden's Fredrik Jacobson in the penultimate group to walk out onto the fairway at 1:41pm local time today.
