'Sherlock' Series Three To Feature 'My Mad Fat Diary' Star Sharon Rooney?

'Sherlock' Role For Sharon?

Sharon Rooney is being tipped to appear in the next series of Sherlock.

The star of E4's My Mad Fat Diary is rumoured to have joined the cast for Sherlock series three, says Digital Spy.

Apparently her online CV with talent agency TROIKA said she was playing a character called Laura in The Empty Hearse, the first episode of the series.

Sharon hit TV screens earlier this year as lead character Rae in My Mad Fat Diary.

The series, set in the 90s, followed the teenager on her release from a mental hospital and the friends she made afterwards.

E4 confirmed in February that My Mad Fat Diary would be returning for a second series.

After The Empty Hearse, Sherlock continues with another two episodes and a fourth series is believed to have already been commissioned.

The hit BBC series stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock and Martin Freeman as his sidekick Watson.

Martin's wife Amanda Abbingdon was recently confirmed as joining the cast.

The programme is currently filming in London, with Derren Brown spotted on set alongside Martin.
