Sara Cox Injured In Horse Riding Accident

Sara Cox has been injured in a horse riding accident.

The BBC Radio 1 DJ suffered a broken collarbone after falling off a racehorse, and has had to pull out of presenting her mid-morning show as a result.

Writing on Twitter, she said: "Sorry for radio/twitter silence, i foolishly exited a racehorse at full-pelt on thurs morning&broke my collar bone&generally bashed myself up."

Sara is currently covering new mum Fearne Cotton's weekday 10am - 1pm slot on the station, and it is thought she will be off duty for the rest of the week, with Gemma Cairney filling in.

"On the upside you have my lovely friend the gorgeous hilarious @gemcairn in for me on the wireless for the week," Sara said.

She is known for her love of horses, having previously competed in a BBC Sport Relief show jumping contest, 'Only Fools on Horses', in 2006.

"I'm now looking for a new less dangerous hobby for the time being #anyoneforfrenchboules? Also thank you to Watford A&E for being amazing," she added on Twitter.

Get well soon, Coxy!
