A prison van carrying police murderer Dale Cregan has been involved in a collision on the way to court.
The van carrying Cregan struck another prisoner transportation vehicle as it travelled to Preston Crown Court, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.
A spokesman told the Manchester Evening News the crash was “not a prison break”.
Four prison officers suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
One prisoner was injured, though he has not been named, the newspaper reports.
Cregan admitted the murders of PC Fiona Bone and PC Nicola Hughes in a dramatic change of plea at Preston Crown Court in February.
He also admits murdering father and son David and Mark Short. Cregan has pleaded not guilty to a further charge of attempted murder.
