Tahiti Go Wild Over Goal... In 6-1 DEFEAT To Nigeria (PICTURES)

Tahiti celebrated their Confederations Cup strike against Nigeria wildly on Monday night... only they were thrashed 6-1.

The South Pacific islanders scored a historic goal when the 138th ranked team in the world, competing in their first major tournament, scored when Jonathan Tehau headed in from a corner.

Nigeria were three up after 25 minutes - AC Milan's Nnamdi Oduamadi scoring the first two instalments of his hat-trick following an early own goal from Nicolas Vallar - before the most popular goal of the night from Tehau in the 54th minute.

But, for all Tahiti's commendable spirit, their ball retention was poor and their defending dire, meaning Nigeria had three further goals to come - from Elderson Echiejile, Oduamadi and an own goal from Tehau.
